Young Audiences Internship Program
Summer 2009

Young Audiences is looking for dynamic, creative interns to assist with projects and office functions during the summer of 2009.

Though all interns will be assisting with general projects, we are hoping to find candidates with to fulfill the following specific functions and work 10-20 hours per week.

We are seeking arts enthusiasts for the following positions: 

Web and Graphic Design:  The Web and Graphic Design Intern will be responsible for helping revise and update the organization’s materials and website.  We are a dynamic, multicultural, and multidisciplinary organization and want to look like one.  This position will include making better use of YANC images and design elements, designing a new institutional brochure, and creating program and event materials. 

Skills Required:  Web and print design experience.  Strong interest and capabilities with visual media.  Creative thinking with an eye towards usability.  Experience with design software, image editing, integrating video into websites, much appreciated.

Arts Program Intern:  The Arts Program Intern will assist the Program Director with building a curriculum database with Young Audiences roster artists, work to plan and promote our Fall Showcase, and help plan a program marketing calendar.  The Arts Program Intern will also assist with the best functioning of our overall program. 

Skills Required:  Highly organized, personable communicator.  Experience with project management, critical thinking skills.

Fundraising Intern:   The Fundraising Intern will work closely with the Executive Director to develop a comprehensive annual grants calendar, and will lead the writing of at least one substantive grant proposal.  This person will also assist with writing copy for our e-news and website. 

Skills Required:  Very strong, concise, and persuasive writing skills.  Creative and critical thinking skills.  Research capabilities.  Interest in learning about fundraising and grant writing. 

All Summer Interns will share responsibilities both in the office and out.  All interns will have the opportunity to attend arts events and performances and to participate as a member of the YANC Staff for the summer. 

Positions are unpaid, but course credit may be available.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteers make our dreams become a reality. Year after year, day after day, volunteers are very much part of our everyday life. In order to provide the highest quality services possible, we depend on the commitment of dedicated volunteers.

Some of our volunteer needs are:

  • Graphic design/desktop publishing: Newsletter, flyers, brochures, and other program materials.
  • Clerical: Data entry, filing, archiving, general office support
  • Events: Assistance at annual Family Festival of the Arts, public performances, fundraising events.
