Our mission is to create arts experiences that inspire young people, expand learning, and enliven communities.

Become a volunteer

There are lots of ways for you to get involved with Young Audiences, whether you see yourself as a Teaching Artist or don't see yourself as having a bit of creativity!

Internships: We are always looking for dynamic, creative interns to assist with projects and office functions throughout the year.  Interns in our office work on social media platforms, database management, public relations campaigns, events, artist training, and graphic design.  Regardless of your specific skill set, if you are energetic and care about the Arts, we can find a place for you to help us make art happen for Bay Area young people!  Contact our Executive Director, Kris Murray, for details:  Kris@ya-nc.org

Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers make our dreams become a reality. Year after year, day after day, volunteers provide the support we need to make art happen for Bay Area young people.   Whether you have a few hours a week or a few hours a month, we have a volunteer position that meets your availability and interests:

  • Graphic design/desktop publishing: Help us to prepare and design our e-newsletter, flyers, brochures, and other program materials.
  • Administrative: Spend some time with our friendly office staff and provide support with data entry, filing, archiving, and responding to inquiries from schools and artists.
  • Events: Help us to plan implement world-class events, whether fundraisers for YANC or public performances featuring artists from our roster.
  • Program Review:  If you are available during the school day, you might want to join our growing Program Review Team.  You will be trained to recognize and document quality arts learning programming and will visit schools around the Bay Area to evaluate the work that Teaching Artists are doing on behalf of Young Audiences.

Auxiliary Board: The YANC Auxiliary Board is comprised of fun-loving, dynamic, and dedicated individuals who want to make a significant contribution in skills and time but are not interested or ready for membership on our Board of Directors.  The Auxiliary Board plans and leads implementation of all of our fundraising events.  From after-work cocktail hours to our annual Make Art Happen benefit, the events planned by the Auxiliary Board provide YANC with visibility and funding support that is critical to our growth.  Auxiliary Board members get to work closely with our wonderful YANC staff and our esteemed Board of Directors.  Time commitment for the Auxiliary Board varies, according to the season and upcoming events.

Board of Directors: Are you looking for an ongoing volunteer opportunity where you will learn the ins and outs of nonprofit management and will work with intelligent, articulate, and interesting professionals like yourself?  If so, it may make sense for you to consider membership on our Board of Directors.  The Board meets monthly and is responsible for the overall operations of the organization.  We are specifically seeking Directors with expertise in financial reporting, marketing, communications, and long-range planning.  Prior Board service is not a prerequisite, but all potential Board Members must submit an application and undergo an interview process.
